Here are the photos captured in the Dasarath Rangashala Stadium for different football events (though the stadium has witnessed some awesome concerts).

The Edge Band concert in Kathmandu (with pictures)

Pokhareli Rock Band The Edge performed a concert in Kathmandu today at Army officers club. The Band now having three new members (other than Vocalist and Lead guitarist), rocked the floor with their soft melodious numbers and some hard rocks. Though the turn out was not that big (about two hundred), all being true fans were found singing aloud with the band. More girls were seen in the concert than boys, proving the band to be pretty popular among ladies. The band performed almost all of their hits like Thaha Chaina to Mero Aashu  to Nachaheko and some of the numbers from their latest album Alag which was even distributed to the audiences in the venue. Nachaheko being one of my favorite single from the band, I managed to take the video which will be uploaded soon in Youtube.
Here are some pictures from the concert.

SAFF Championship 2013 schedule (Kathmandu)

Update: Click here for SAFF semifinal Schedule.
South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship is going to be held in Kathmandu from 31st August 2013. Eight countries (Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives, Bhutan and Afghanistan) are participating in this 10th version (among which Nepal, India, Pakistan, Srilanka participated in all, and Afghanistan joined the group later). Other Teams are pouring in and getting accustomed with the environment here in Kathmandu. Nepal had never won the title and got the best third place till now, but seems strong contender for winning the title this time along with home ground advantage. Five times winner Indian team has many new faces but they are still confident of winning the title. Last SAFF runner-ups Afghanistan are also believed to give good performance for bagging the championship. But it is always too early to predict without watching single play here in Kathmandu. Two venues are selected for the match: Dasarath Rangashala Stadium and Halchowk Stadium.
Eight Teams are divided into two: Group A and B. Of which Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh are made to fall in Group A whereas Aghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Srilanka are gathered in Group B. Nepal will play against Bangladesh in the opening match of the championship on 31st August 6:30 pm Nepali time at Dasarath Rangashala Stadium. It is also known that Kantipur Television will be broadcasting all the matches live.
Here is the schedule of the group stage matches of SAFF championship 2013 being held in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Flood in Kathmandu. #photo #ktm.

Coming back home from office, I saw the way from Traffic Police office (near Singa durbar) to Putalisadak in full flood. Some of the things I witnessed there are: Umbrellas all over for the heavy rain, Water entering inside the houses near the road, people folded their pants for walking in the water, some of them even taking off their shoes (which I could not capture), problems in vehicles for ignition (start) which resulted in jam. I managed to capture some pictures in the way which are quite shaky and not that of good quality but I prefer posting it and hope for some concerned people to see the misery of people and do some actions to solve it.
Here are some pictures that I have taken from my mobile in the road.

Nepathya performs record breaking concert at Wembley Arena, London.

Nepathya- the popular Nepali folk/rock band that is in the music scene for more than 2 decades and did peace concerts all over Nepal during insurgency period, performed a record breaking concert at Wembley Arena, London in front of 10,000 audience. This is the first time that a Nepali band has done such performance in Wimbley Arena- that had performances from biggest names in music from UK itself to all around the world like The Beatles, The Rolling stones, Bob Dylan, U2, Dire Straits, Spice Girls, Alter Bridge, Madonna, Shakira, Evanescence, Muse etc.

Having watched some videos in Youtube, I have found amazing crowds and superb performance from the folk/rock band that makes you go wild and reminded me of those Nepathya concerts I have attended.
Here are some videos of the concert in Youtube.

Nepathya to perform a concert tonight in Wembley Arena, London

Nepathya- the popular Nepali folk/rock band that is in the music scene for more than 2 decades and did peace concerts all over Nepal during insurgency period, will be performing a record breaking concert tonight in Wembley Arena, London in front of 12,000 audiences. This is the first time that a Nepali band will be doing such performance in Wimbley Arena- that had performances from biggest names in music from UK itself to all around the world like The Beatles, The Rolling stones, Bob Dylan, U2, Dire Straits, Spice Girls, Alter Bridge, Madonna, Shakira, Evanescence, Muse etc. With the capacity of 12,000, Wembley Arena is often confused with Wimbley Stadium (home ground of English national Team) that has capacity of 90,000 and even witnessed the biggest concerts of the world. At first, I was also confused with Wembley Stadium but later checked for the fact after hearing the capacity of the venue.
Tickets are priced at £ 29 for the concert which is also named as Music for unity, this time its not only for all Nepalese but for the people of the whole world.
Before leaving for London, Nepathya's lead man Amrit Gurung in an interview with Kantipur expressed his  excitement to get the opportunity to perform in such popular arena: Wembley Arena- also one of the biggest arena in London. It is also a matter of great proud for all Nepali to have our band performing there and a great honor to all the Nepalese living there in London. This concert also helps in promoting our Nepali music in the world music scenario. Being here in Nepal, I am desperately waiting for some early video clips in Youtube and wish for the DVD to release soon.

Xiaomi releases Hongmi- a cheaper but capable android phone.

Xiaomi- the Chinese mobile phone company that stormed the world with its MI series smartphones, has now released a cheaper android phone named Hongmi, also called Red Rice phone. It seems like Xiaomi that made you forget the biggest phone brand in the world, is likely to hit the low end phone market with their sub brand Hongmi. With the launch of the Hongmi phone, it is also speculated that the flagship MI3 release will be delayed till September which is supposed to release within August.
Priced at 799 yuan ($ 130), Hongmi uses MediaTek's 1.5 GHz quad core processor (MT6589) and has 4.7 inch IPS screen. Having dual SIM card slot, the phone supports GSM (2G) and 3G TD-SCDMA technology, though some websites have mentioned the support for WCDMA technology. And if there is no WCDMA support then its is a big downside for all the smartphone users in other parts of the world.(Need to confirm though).

The phone, now released only in China, is also equipped with 8 MP Samsung Rear Camera and 1.3 Mp front camera. Rear Camera (28mm focal length) is capable of recording full HD(1024) videos. 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory (SD expandable to 32 GB), Battery capacity 2000 mAh and Android Jelly bean 4.2 are other features for the phone available in several colors like ivory, Metallic red and Chinese red, with ability to change the back cover in Blue, Green and yellow colors.
Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, also known as Steve Jobs of China, claims the Hongmi phone is the best product among all below 1000 yuan smartphones.

Ani Choying sings with AR Rahman in MTV coke studio season 3.

Ani Choying Dolma- the singing nun of Nepal who has earned an enormous popularity for her soft melody singing and buddhists chants not only in Nepal but all around the world, has worked with Oscar winner Indian musician A.R. Rahman in Mumbai. Getting an invitation from A.R. Rahman, Ani flew to Mumbai direct from her concert in Indonesia to practice with her favorite musician for MTV coke studio season 3. Some teasers and a fusion song "Zariya" is already released for the new season which is to be aired on Saturday 18th August. Social Medias are already full covered with the sharing of the fusion song between Arabian harmony of Jordanian singer Farah Siraj and Buddhist chants of our very own Ani choying. Ani's magical mums and chants together with Rahman's talented composition and Siraj's Arabian flavor makes the song Zariya already a viral hit. Now I am waiting to watch the full program of the latest season of MTV coke Studio. Till then here is the released song Zariya in Youtube.

Teej song 2070 by Komal Oli featuring Girish

Teej- the fasting festival for women  is still some weeks to come for the year 2070 but songs about Teej are already being aired in radios and TV. The trend to release music videos in Youtube is now also followed by such Teej songs. Komal Oli- popular female singer has always brought peculiar lok songs during Teej and this year, she has collaborated with popular rapper DJ Girish for a Teej song named Jhumi Jhumi. DJ Girish has even called her as the queen of Teej in the start and the song has a catchy tune (sounds familiar though).
Here is the music video of Teej song (from Youtube) by Komal Oli featuring Girish.
